Today we were at Sinhagad fort near Pune. While going towards the fort I got an opportunity to paint this water color landscape. It was a very cool and nice place surrounded by rain water. I hope you will also like the place/painting ! --- Size is 11.5 " x 8.5 "

" Mansoon mood " -- by Suresh Pethe

This one is a purely watercolor painting ! Its of Nandi temple at Mahuli near Satara. Strictly speaking you may find it  an incomplete one, as I was earlier. Because of the rain I had to pack up suddenly  thinking that , later on I will complete it at home. But then I thought, I may loose certain natural happenings even I touch it ! Tell me your opinion. The size is  10"x14".

Heading for the River

This is a painting of an old Indian man headed towards the fiver Ganga for his morning ablutions and prayers. For those who dont know, Ganga holds a special place in the Hindu system. It is supposed to have the ability to cleanse everyone of his sins and curses. A small jar containing Ganga jal (water of ganga) can e found in each and every household in India. Coming back to the painting, I tried to do it with bold brush strokes. I am not particularly satisfied with the background. There are many confusing colour passages in there.

 Few things about me is -- I am a retired civil engineer and come across ' accidentally '  with an organisation like SANSKAR BHARATI . It is well known for art contribution nationwide .  Every member of Sanskar bharati have taught me and since last seven years, at least one a day I am painting or sketching.

In Mumbai, it is pouring everyday and I enjoy the sound of the rain, in spite of the several hassles with the daily activities. During rainy season, a dancing peacock is a delight to watch. The joy that the rain brings extends to humans as well. The children in our apartment complex dance in the rain to their hearts' content with not a care in the world and not worrying about getting sick! Looking at them from my balcony, I was inspired. I took reference from a news paper photo and altered it to my choice. Some adults can let go of themselves and dance in the rain to express the feeling of joy that the rain brings. This is such a moment!

I used four different hands of a family of four to show the strength, love and bonding that is shared. The Fall by Padmaja

The drive from Baroda to Saputara had always been exciting and special for me.. enjoying rural Gujarat is something that has to be experienced. This is a random place on this drive where a small river falls down as a beautiful fall. I have used my artistic freedom and added those trees! Also this painting was made as a fengshui element to someone who wanted prosperity and seems like it did give them lot of money! Coincidence? No idea! What mattered was my intention of making this painting was well served and that made me happy :-)

Faces of Angkor by Padmaja

One of the interesting sculpture that caught my attention at the Angkorwat, Cambodia was the churning of the ocean by the Devas. I tried to do a figurative abstract out of it by making use of the artist freedom, just taking the faces and the perspective in to account. I have shared the photo that I took when I visited the place. I used 3 canvasses of 24 " by 48 " to get a big view.
