The Day after - Prabal Mallick

Title - The day after
Size - 9.5 x 15 inch
Medium - Watercolor on paper
Status - Available

Still life when done from a live setup is always fun. And I like the aesthetics of wine bottles a lot for a still life painting. In this painting added to wine bottle, a single malt and a cointreau bottle was also used, both of which I had got as a gift. I had real good fun while painting this one. Hope you enjoy it. As you can see all the bottles are empty, hence the title. :)

Glass and Grapefruits - Ajay Patil MN

I am trying out a professional grade linen canvas.  Most established artists have repeatedly said that 'Your work can only be as good as the tools you use'. I have always wondered why. Could we not get away with mediocre grade paint and surface? Apparently not. I really enjoyed working on this canvas and subject. I did this from a photo reference with prior permission. Photograph belongs to Russian photographer Sergey (sevlb). The photo can be viewed at Flickr. (  As always thanks for looking.

This is what Sergey had to say after seeing my painting -

I would be glad to see your works from my pics again...

The beauty of Udaipur cannot be captured in an image or painting or such expression .

This recent painting of mine was a moment that I spent at one of the "Baghs "(gardens) in this beautiful city of Udaipur , Rajasthan , INDIA . I can still remember how I stood before this green and could easily spend some hours without doing anything ., such was the beauty and atmosphere there .

My next exhibition is scheduled for a mid May release. Usha Shantharam

It is my pleasure to announce the dates of my next exhibition on Artists of India   Arthi.  I can see new artists joining in more frequently now.  Thanks to you we have a common platform now.

The exhibition is scheduled to start from 16th May 2011 through 25th May 2011 to be held in Chitra Kala Parishad Bangalore.  This time it is a group show. As many of you know that I have been teaching painting informally  to an interested few for the past 3 years.  I felt the need to promote some of them who are doing extremely well.  So they will all (4 of them) be exhibiting along with me in May.  All the participating debut artists are software proffessionals and I am very eager to show their artworks to all.
I hope to God that all goes well.

One of the paintings to be exhibited - a landscape is displayed here.  This is a 'plein air' painting done in Lal Bagh Bangalore.  This is my artwork though.
