The Day after - Prabal Mallick

Title - The day after
Size - 9.5 x 15 inch
Medium - Watercolor on paper
Status - Available

Still life when done from a live setup is always fun. And I like the aesthetics of wine bottles a lot for a still life painting. In this painting added to wine bottle, a single malt and a cointreau bottle was also used, both of which I had got as a gift. I had real good fun while painting this one. Hope you enjoy it. As you can see all the bottles are empty, hence the title. :)

Used and Forgotten - Prabal Mallick

Title - Used and Forgotten
Size - 18 inch x 12 inch
Medium - Watercolor on paper
Year - 2009
Status - Available

The title of the painting explains the painting completely. I had made it as a metaphor to almost everything that is 'used and forgotten' including human beings. This was at display in the last exhibition in July this year. A gentleman took a lot of time at this painting and came to me and congratulated me. And then he discussed about it for sometime from which I could gather that he had understood the intended metaphor in the painting. I was indeed very happy because I knew there is at least one person who understood the thought process behind this painting. Well now you also know. :)

A city soaked - Prabal Mallick

A city soaked - watercolorTitle - A city soaked
Size - 13 inch x 17 inch
Medium - Watercolor on paper
Year - 2009
Status - Sold

This painting was done from a photo taken by fellow artist blogger Ajay Patil. This place is somewhere in Pune. The rain has reduced to a drizzle. Fresh sunlight has come and hit the dome which has got cleaned up in the rain. Some people have already started moving. Some rather hurriedly. But some people who had taken shelter at the road side shops are either continuing their conversation or have spotted something to buy from the shop. Life on just another rainy day in India.
