Soft pastel painting of a landscape by Manju Panchal

" If I create from the heart; nearly everything works, if from head
almost nothing." Marc Chagall

The soft pastel painting below has been inspired
by my early morning visit to Karnala Bird Sanctuary.

The sunlit pathway and the surrounding thick
vegetation growth made for a good composition.
The light and contrast in the scene appealed
a lot to me.

Charcoal sketching of trees on Canson paper. By Manju Panchal

The images below are of two different trees as seen at
Karnala Bird Sanctuary and the sketches have been
created on Canson Mi Teintes paper
using Camel charcoal pencil
and Conte a paris white pastel pencil.

The early morning sunlight that filters through the dense foliage
and branches creates beautiful patterns on the tree trunks.
I do these study works from time to time
to get a better understanding
 of "TREE ANATOMY"
