Siddarth Katragadda _ Talented Indian Artist
We are featuring here a talented India-born artist who has made his mark in the world outside- Siddarth Katragadda.I am giving him space here as I believe he represents what is the essence of "Artist of India".
Born in the Bangalore,
India, he now lives with
his wife and two children in San Diego, California.
Painting since he was
10, Siddarth paints colorful and elaborately dressed, voluptous,
dark Indian women, paying equal attention to their omnipresent bindis and
resplendent ornaments as he does to their draped saris and brilliant blouses.
His portraits are as abstract as they are figurative. He tends to abstract away
from facial features, and lays more emphasis on the way a culture has sculpted
the woman as a whole, especially the colors, which are depicted in brightest of
colors - reds, saffrons and yellows – the most essential Indian colors.
His paintings

remains a self-taught artist by choice.

Most of the novels I read have made me dream about England and the english country life. I love to surf with Google Street View and visit places I can only dream of. I cam across this view in one of these "visits" ;) I used Fabriano paper for the first time today and found it a little too absorptive for my taste.

painting green's is something which keeps me concerned in the artwork, peculiarly Indian village scenes which are different, with some beautiful coalition of yellow's and blue's, the above painting was studio painted after taking a image reference though many changes were made , i kept it fresh and bright to get a feeling of sunny day in the monsoon's, a rare situation though its one of the beautiful aspect to witness during monsoons.... with the novelty of the rain and the luminance of the sun.
